Will politics dominate the market narrative this week? | Morning Markets
It's a choice. You can have a bit of each. Don't fall for the words of these pension advisors who want to charge you commission. Liquidity? Where is the liquidity in a pension?
This old chestnut THey are both so different If you want a business BTL a SIPP is not a Business BTL still works but it has to be via a Company if your borrowing If your not keep it personal But I think more changes to CGT are on the way so personal BTL could face a 45% tax bill on CGT If you were to start a company the comoany can pay into your SIPP I have done so well from BTL I left my day job at 40 and i am 66 and i now have my state pension and i am takeing tax free cash from my SIPP So I dont need my BTL although its the cream now on my cake if i can have an income of 50k a year 11k state 12k SIPP 27k from BTL I have achived more then i ever thought BTL is not self employment its a investment company with all the hassel of a company SIPP you just click and forget
The NASDAQ has had a bit of a battering, sudden sharp rises at the same time then sudden falls in the Dow Jones! There just doesn’t seem to be any real stability and momentum in the markets
Hi David, thanks for watching! As we know volatility is common in markets. For questions on performance we recommend speaking to your financial adviser. If you don't have a financial adviser, please give us a call on 0191 625 0350.
I think the US economy will go belly up after November elections.
The experts will know that and reallocate accordingly. One hopes 😉
Hi Paulo, thank you for watching. Our Investment Management Team will be monitoring markets and performance as the US election draws closer.
Seems to me that given the recent Dow Jones highs and the weighted allocation of US stocks in most portfolios- the valuations of p’folios don’t appear to be increasing relatively. Momentum just isn’t there. Sadly.
Hi Steve, thanks for watching! If you have any questions about performance your financial adviser will be able to help. If you don't have a financial adviser, please give us a call on 0191 625 0350.
I see on most previous podcasts that viewers post comments. Why doesn’t TP respond to these?
Hi John, we’re always happy to respond where we can, however we do try to encourage people to have a more personal conversation about their investments by contacting their financial adviser or by calling our Relationship Management Team on 0191 500 9164.
I appreciate that markets are volatile and we are all reliant on long term performance however would you say that the last 10 days or so have been typical? Movements in the market over those 10 days appear to have taken 20% of the gains my balanced portfolio had accrued since Jan 2021. Do you feel this is just unfortunate timing giving you appear to be generally positive over the current position?
Hi Darren, thanks for watching! As you mentioned, markets can be volatile so it can be difficult to define what a typical period looks like. If you have any questions about performance it's always a good idea to speak your financial adviser. If you don't have a financial adviser, please give us a call on 0191 625 0350.
Too much hand-waving.
Hi, thanks for watching and for your feedback.
It would be good for us laymen if you could relate some of this to TP pension funds and performance. Thank you 🙏
Hi Jeremy, thank you for watching and for your feedback. If you would like to have a personal conversation about your investments, please contact your financial adviser or call our Relationship Management Team on 0191 500 9164.
How things can be different but obviously depends on sums invested but I am showing 12.3% despite market fluctuations over the past 2 weeks.
Hi, thank you for watching. We’d be happy to have a personal conversation about your investments. Please contact your financial adviser or call our Relationship Management Team on 0191 500 9164
£10.000.00 down in just under two weeks on a cautious investor 😮😢
Why did my pension suddenly drop in value yesterday?
It happens when anything happens worldwide. A day of IT outages.....
Hi Jonathan, thanks for taking the time to watch! For questions on performance your financial adviser should be able to help. If you don't have a financial adviser, please give us a call on 0191 625 0350.
Back in 2022 when btc was at its cycle low, people where saying btc is done for it's going below $15k US it's going to zero. Well it's down 10% from mid March ath 2024 and now everyone is shitting themselves. That doesn't make any logical sense especially for crypto. Its just a shake out phase, chill people go zoom out at old charts. We are at around 1.4 trillion market cap and only growing, just wait and see the price next year in March it will double....I've been engaged in active trading and managed to grow a nest egg of around 2.3Bitcoin to a decent 24Bitcoin....I'm especially grateful to Dorian j Townsend, whose deep expertise and traditional trading acumen have been invaluable in this challenging, ever-evolving financial landscape.
I was a stay at Home mom with no money in my IRA or any savings of my own, which was scary at 53 years of age. Three years ago I got a part time job and save everything I make. After 3 years, I am 56 yo and have put $9,000 in an IRA and $40,000 in my portfolio with CFA, Dorian j Townsend. Since the goal of getting a job was to invest for retirement and NOT up my lifestyle, I was able to scale this quickly to $150,000. If I can do this in a year, anyone can.
Just hope stock markets don’t become over inflated and a head wind of stock market correction which keeps being predicted.
although you spoke about POA would be god to know differences between POA and LPA
Good idea to cover this BUT you have given some slightly misleading info here - unless you set it up yourself (and be careful, you can get it wrong and hit more delay and costs as a result) it is NOT just £82 to do this. £82 is the court fee to register the LPA (ie allow it to be used) but a solicitor or similar will of course charge a fee of their own to prepare the document and deal with registration on your behalf. Fees can vary, some will charge a ridiculous amount, others more reasonable. Sorry, but you just threw that it at the very last second, many people will have been left with the impression from watching this that they only have to spend £82. Also, importantly, the criteria for a Property/Finance Attorney are not just that they must be 18 or over and of sound mind - they also must not be bankrupt or subject to a debt relief order. You did not mention this important point.
Imagine the growth if we were still in the euro-zone.
Too quiet - microphone working?
Let hope’s good times ahead for our portfolios .
I know you said this is intended to be a politically neutral platform but it's somewhat bizarre not to have even mentioned the impact of Reform
Lets wait a few weeks & guess what ? Its worse than we thought. We must do these unpopular things . 1 thing they will do is cancel the 25% tax free pension freedoms .
Anticipating the outcome I have converted every penny I can into Gold. Stashed in a safe place known only to me. Only when my will is read will it's location be revealed. By then I won't care.
Can’t see Labour raiding the pension pots and ISAs this would be very unpopular, they need to encourage to save even more, not take more in taxes, but we will see
"time for change?"...I don't understand. The vast majority of voters have complained that they see no difference between the two main parties and no confidence in any of the so-called "alternatives". Labour won't change anything. If these magical "changes" were possible, then any party would have implemented them. We are in an age where businesses hold more power than governments...and they are far quicker to use it.
No mention of the lack of trust in all politicians throughout the country as a cause of the low turnout.
Starmer can't lie straight in bed definite tax increases with liebour
I have been with you for 2.5 years and still haven't made a penny.
Hi Rob. We’re always here if you’d like to have a personal conversation about your investments. Please contact your financial adviser or call our team on 0191 500 9164 and we'll be happy to help.
like like like!!!
I am a cautious risk taker, if I wanted to step that risk up, what would be the next step?
Hi Trevor, It would be beneficial to have a personal conversation about next steps your investments, please contact your financial adviser or call our team on 0191 500 9164.
Again, fear and greed
Nice to hear positivity from the markets.
Not trying to be smart our generation saw interest rates hit 15 percent in the eighties, but present day good news going forward.
Thank you for the shape update, short and straight forward.
They will just hold the rates as they are!
Let ups we can see some form of normalisation within the markets going forward for everyone.
Manifesto's? Great! How about making them believable and how about being straight with the public about the financial maths?
I think it would be very helpful for some people if you could actually help people activate their accounts that they have been trying to do since being forced to use your service of no choice by their employer.
I seem to remember one Boris Johnson promising not to increase NI. Then after the election raised it by 1.25 points to pay for social care reforms, then reversed it. The social care reforms are now due to start next year. How is that going to be paid for? Answer taxes are going up irrespective of which party gets in.
I think it would be helpful for some people if you could explain the terms voiced such as "zero print" and other terminology used here.
Anyone old enough to have lived through a labour government will share my feelings of dread. They seem to be promising rather a lot on the strength of adding VAT to private school fees.
Do you think if Labour get in they will change lifetime allowance for pensions back to a fixed amount.
The world is changing and this is changing the markets to fall on regular basis there is just no momentum whatsoever
Hopefully , whatever the political landscape come July , will be already factored into the portfolios. I hope so anyway 🥴
You are a bunch of thieves who rob people without their knowledge..
Great podcast!! Hopefully 🙏 interest rates will come down in the UK and more hopefully in the USA, low interest rrates are really good for the markets to rise, Especially for our portfolios
Hi David. Thanks for your great feedback!
There seems to be still a inflation problem in the USA which constantly bother the Dow jones, hopefully the Fed will indicate a cut in interest rates soon, but it seems unlikely
Love watching the pod casts.
Hi Trevor, we're glad you enjoy them! Thank you for your comment.
Nice to hear more positives coming from the World Markets.
"Not reacted badly to news of an election" ? Then why has my True Potential pension pot lost £1,000 in the last 5 working days? Maybe the current crop of investors should stand for re election like the government 😠😡🤬
Hello Geoffrey, we’re sorry to hear this. If you have any concerns about your investment, it might be worth having a conversation with your financial adviser and they will be happy to help.
